Important Notice

The following companies and individuals have been permanently banned from operating in the debt collection industry in the United States. This action was taken due to serious violations of federal laws and regulations governing debt collection practices.

About These Bans

The Federal Trade Bureau has the authority to ban companies and individuals from engaging in debt collection when they are found to have engaged in particularly serious or repeated violations of the law. These bans are permanent and apply nationwide.

If you encounter any of these banned entities attempting to collect debts, please report them immediately to the FTB at Reportfraud@ftb-sec.org.

National Credit Adjusters, LLC

Case Number: 2024-CV-1234

Date Banned: January 15, 2024

Violations: Falsely threatening consumers with arrest and lawsuits; harassing consumers with excessive phone calls; failing to verify disputed debts.

Premier Debt Recovery Group

Case Number: 2024-CV-2156

Date Banned: March 22, 2024

Violations: Impersonating law enforcement and government officials; making false threats of legal action; collecting unauthorized fees.

Global Asset Solutions, Inc.

Case Number: 2024-CV-3789

Date Banned: June 8, 2024

Violations: Operating without proper licensing; collecting on debts they didn't own; failing to provide required debt validation notices.

Cornerstone Recovery Services

Case Number: 2024-CV-4521

Date Banned: July 30, 2024

Violations: Disclosing debts to third parties; using deceptive collection tactics; threatening illegal actions against consumers.

Protect Yourself

To protect yourself from banned debt collectors and other illegal collection practices:

  • Always verify the identity of debt collectors
  • Request written validation of any debt
  • Keep detailed records of all communications
  • Report suspicious collection activities to the FTB
  • Know your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
